As part of the Municipal Service Exchange Agreement, the Province of NS will cost share 50% of the expense to upgrade (pave) “J Class” roads within the MODL (Municipality of the District of Lunenburg). The “J” classification refers to local residential streets or sub-division streets. MODL has participated in this program in the past, but we don’t always get approval for the provincial funding.
NS Department of Public Works is asking MODL to submit its paving priorities for the 2022/2023 fiscal year. MODL used the Road Improvement Policy, MDL-75, Section 4, to select the following roads that meet the criteria for road improvement: The Point Road in Blue Rocks, Darby’s Head Road in Blue Rocks, the St. Augustines Road in Conquerall Bank. Roads also included Riverside Heights, Freeman Crescent, Riverview Drive, all in Conquerall Bank. This was done with all of the Councillors present and with input from the MODL Engineering and Public Works.
UPDATE: NS Department of Public Works has agreed to upgrade and pave The Point Road in Blue Rocks during 2023. Other roads will need to be resubmitted next year for consideration.
